Rangers striker Alfredo Morelos has been linked with a January transfer to Aston Villa, according to The Daily Record.
Quoting The Mirror, the Daily Record state that the 21-year-old Colombian striker has been watched by Villa scouts with Steve Bruce weighing up a move, despite the player signing a 3-year-deal just months ago.
Morelos, known for his electric pace, has scored 8 goals already this season which has also alerted another 4 Championship clubs. The striker scored 27 goals for HJK Helsinki last season, and should his form continue he may earn himself a swift move away from Ibrox.
When asked about the interest around the player, current Rangers manager Pedro Caixinha said the club are “glad he is being followed by English clubs,” and that it is “the reality of the market. We cannot run away from it.”
Meanwhile, Morelos’ agent believes the player is “hot right now” and that a derby goal against Celtic could send his price tag through the roof. All signs seem to point to the player leaving in the near future, despite only being in Scotland for a short while. In contrast, a potential turn off has also been alerted by the player’s agent, who has stated that the player speaks very little English. “I’ve been telling him this for a long time now. He needs to learn it one day but he’s been in Europe for some time now and he hasn’t really bothered to learn it.”
It should come as no surprise that we’re currently being linked to strikers. Scott Hogan and Ross McCormack are currently firing blanks, and the latter is only still here due to Villa being unable to get rid in the summer. We’re yet to see if a Davis and Kodjia duo could do the business, and I fully expect for us to be linked with more strikers as we head towards the winter window.
We’ll provide more thorough analysis into the player should our interest continue.
